Aeration Basins

  • There are three Aeration Basins, two with a capacity of 150,000 gal/day and one with 300,000 gal/day.

  • The purpose of these basins is to biologically break the sewage.

  • For microorganisms to perform their functions they must have a constant rate of "food" (sewage) input, plus oxygen. This must also happen at a reasonable temperature and correct acid/base (pH) balance.

  • Oxygen is supplied from air by mechanical aeration (stirring) devices

  • The output of Aeration Basins flows into clarifiers.
